Wedding DJ for hire in NYC

Looking for a non-cheesy wedding DJ?  Then you must hire a DJ who has experience playing in the nightlife.

WHAT TO ASK YOUR DJ

I can’t tell you how many couples tell me what they want for their wedding day is for everyone to be dancing.  Who wants their wedding day to feel awkward with people just standing around?  Or worse just sitting down eating the whole time.  As a result, this puts a lot of weight on picking out the right wedding DJ.  Especially if you know you have family members who don’t generally dance.

Most wedding DJ’s will provide music playlist forms for couples to fill out.  For example, some couples are really passionate about their music taste.  On the other hand, some couples find the process of picking out music really stressful and would rather that the DJ just pick out most of the tunes.  The one thing most couples agree on is that they don’t want cheesy music.  They do want music that old people and young people can dance to.

So how is a DJ supposed to make all of this work?  For starters, this really comes down to how well your DJ can read a crowd.  Secondly, how good a DJ is at programming music will also come into play.  The timing of when a song is played and in which order is really an art form.  Not even Spotify and their fancy algorithms can achieve that.  This is when years of playing out in the nightlife and reading the crowd is the main job of a DJ comes in handy.

In conclusion, if I could give couples valuable advice I would tell them this; ask your DJ if they have any nightlife experience and for how many years they did it for.  Otherwise you could get stuck with your typical wedding DJ who thinks every wedding crowd is the same.  Even worse, a DJ who thinks everyone wants to hear the chicken dance.
