Top 3 Engagement Party Ideas

If you ask me, engagement parties are where it’s at!  For starters, it’s pre wedding planning so no stress is involved yet.  It’s a time to just relish in the fact that you have found your forever person to rock this life with.  Additionally, it’s a time you get to share this special time with your nearest and dearest people.  That’s why planning the right engagement party is key to fully enjoying this special time in your life!

1. A Surprise Proposal and Engagement Party All in One. (True Story)

For those of us who have pets, we understand that our furry friends are family to us.  We can’t really imagine celebrating or doing anything without them for that very reason.  That’s why when my friends got engaged at their dog Luna’s 2nd birthday party it made complete sense to me.

My friends Arya and Juliette  picked Lucky Dog bar in Williamsburg to host their dog Luna’s birthday party since it is a dog friendly bar.  With games and a backyard it was a perfect  place to celebrate.  What the soon to be groom didn’t tell his girlfriend was that he was going to use the occasion to propose to her.  He made sure to invite all of her family and friends and did tell a select few of his plan.

The exact moment he proposed to her was when they brought out the cake for their dog Luna.  Arya pointed out to Juliette that there was something around Luna’s neck.  Juliette looked more closely to find a dog tag that said “will you marry me” around her dog’s neck.  That’s when Arya got on one knee and proposed to Juliette surrounded by their family and friends.

The best part of this surprise proposal is that once she said yes, it became an instant engagement party.  Talk about multi-tasking!  This was also good for their pocket books. A low key pet friendly dog celebration with loved ones to celebrate commitment and love.  It really doesn’t get better than that.

We also had the pleasure of DJing their wedding a year later at Giando’s on The Water.  Located on Kent Ave. in Williamsburg, Giando’s has one of the best views of Manhattan.  Juliette comes from a large traditional Italian family so they needed a venue that could fit 200 for an affordable price.  Giando’s on the Water fits the bill with space, great food, impeccable service and views for days.  You can listen to their cocktail hour playlist below.

2. A Holiday Themed Engagement Party

Winter themed engagement party

Whether you choose to do an engagement party in your backyard garden, favorite brunch spot or event space, you can use the holidays to help create your theme.  So many people get engaged around the holidays so it just makes sense to use the holiday theme to celebrate your commitment.  Not to mention, there are a bunch of holidays to choose from so you have choices for your engagement party ideas.

A gothic theme would go well around Halloween which could still be classic and elegant.  A theme around gratitude with fall colors and pumpkins would go swimmingly in November with Thanksgiving around the corner.  A Christmas engagement party just screams celebration with so many decorations and holiday music to choose from.  A New Year’s Eve engagement party is a sensational way to bring in the new year.  Last but not least, a Valentine’s Day themed engagement party hits the nail on the head.

3.Destination Engagement Party

Destination Engagement

We know destination weddings are a thing, but what about destination engagement parties?  You could invite an intimate group of friends to your favorite island spot and celebrate all weekend together.  You could go to an all inclusive retreat, rent a house through Airbnb or rent a private small yacht.  The possibilities are endless and the photo opportunities would be even more priceless.  Depending on your budget you could even invite a destination photographer to join you on your weekend engagement celebration!  For that matter, you could invite a destination DJ with you to make sure the tunes are stellar throughout your trip.

Below you will find a few links for destination photographer’s, Airbnb locations and a discount code for booking a DJ with us!  That’s because we LOVE the engagement season and want to help you celebrate to your fullest.
