I would be lying if I told you I was excited about spring. Only because I have been living in Puerto Rico since the end of December. BUT, as a female DJ who is about to begin her wedding season in NYC, I will need to think about some spring outfit ideas for my gigs.
The Wedding in Rincon
Before I return to my Greenpoint, Brooklyn apartment (and my two kitties that I miss terribly), I have a wedding in Rincon, Puerto Rico. My boyfriend is part of the wedding party and his gray suit is complimented by a baby blue bow tie. Which is not a bad spring outfit ideas in itself.
Luckily I have a pair of blue shoes that I bought when I first got to Puerto Rico for another wedding we went to. So now I embark on the search for a spring dress that will work with my blue shoes.
Plaza Las Americas
So I did what 99% of people living in Puerto Rico would do, I went to Plaza Las America’s Mall. Plus my mani pedi place is there too so it would be a twofer. As a busy female DJ/business owner who is used to getting errands done while walking her Great Pyrenees and maltipoo, I absolutely love killing two birds with one stone.
First Attempt For A Spring Dress
From the looks below you can see it just wasn’t dressy enough for a wedding. Although I would love this dress for a roof top lounge DJ gig in the city this summer!
The Search Continues
I walked to a few more stores (with my freshly pedicured feet in flip flops) without any success. Had to to take a coffee break as well since apparently Plaza Las Americas is the largest mall in Puerto Rico. I obviously didn’t get the memo.
I picked out a couple of more dresses. This next dress, although very comfortable, still wasn’t right for a wedding. Not to mention that I really couldn’t see this dress working with my blue shoes. I would prefer to wear a neutral shoe color with this dress I think.
Found A Winner!
They say the third time’s a charm. As you can see my dress below checked all of the boxes for this female DJ.
It’s blue (will match my shoes and BF’s bow tie)
Floral patterns (It’s spring after all)
Dressy enough for a wedding
DJ Talk
Ok, so before I show the final product of the dress with the shoes and my hair did etc., let’s talk about music. As someone who curates playlists for over 65 events a year I am pretty good at creating stellar playlists for ANY occassion. If that is a skill that interests you, then you should definitely grab my FREEBIE below.
In conclusion, I probably wouldn’t wear this dress when DJing at a wedding. Only because black is usually the color that vendors wear at these events. But, I do think it could work at a private event in the hamptons. This dress would definitely look great with my white headphones!
