NYC Weddings that rock!

Sweet Caroline was lit!

This wedding reception was a hit at the Art Factory in Patterson, New Jersey.

There are wedding receptions and then there are professional party people receptions.  What does that mean?  Just look at the bride and groom stage diving in the video above.  That about says it all.  Who knew that “Sweet Caroline” usually saved for the last song would create a mosh pit experience so early on in the evening.  To say this wedding reception rocked is an understatement!

So what was different about this crowd than other weddings?  For starters, they were all in their late 20’s.  Secondly, the bride and groom had a tight nit of friends that all went to a University in Boston together.  It would be safe to say that this crowd had many years of practice partying together.

So what was the last song of the night you ask?  Well, that depends on which party you are asking about.  You see, the bride and groom had an after party after the wedding reception.  So for the wedding reception, the last song was “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen.  This one is always a classic and goes down well. The ballad part of the song is great for singing while quickly switching to a fast paced BPM so that everyone can get their last dance moves in.

Let’s now talk about the after party.  The bride requested a pop music vibe.  That is a loaded request since pop music is quite the broad category now.  Once upon a time one would think pop was The Spice Girls or Madonna and Michael Jackson.  Nowadays, pop is actually hip-hop, reggeaton and trap music.  Unless you want to hear some Ari, Bruno Mars and Justin Timberlake of course.

Therefore, the last song of the after party was no other than Beyonce’s “Love on Top”.  Who else other than the Queen herself could close out such an epic wedding reception night.  After all, the words, beat and melody in this song are so appropriate for a wedding day.

What is Pop Music Today?
