Want to know where I get all of my music from as a DJ of 24 years? Here are a few websites and record pools I like to get my music from! Something I teach all about in my online DJ Course!
And I will even show you how to get free music for beginner DJs to download! But first, let me teach you how to find music on the interent like a pro!
Step by step process of finding music on the internet:
Step 1:
Do a search on google for a particular song you want. Make sure to write “mp3” at the end of the name of the track. This way it shows you which website you can download it from. Otherwise it will show streaming services.
Step 2:
If you don’t know which songs you want to download then use Shazam. I swear Shazam changed my life when it came out. Listen to songs when you are out and about and Shazam any song you don’t know.
Step 3:
Now go searching for these songs using google like I mentioned above. Otherwise, you can also search for them at some of my favorite websites like:
Step 4:
Join a record pool. A record pool is a website that you subscribe to for a monthly fee for about $20. They are great if you are a professional DJ and download lots of tracks per month. Want to know which record pools I like? Check out my FREE recourse guide below for my full list of websites.
FREE Music Recourse Guide
In my music recourse guide I list my top websites that I download my music from. It is a list of record pools and digital websites that have music for DJs to download at a reasonable price. Since I am promoting my online DJ course I also provide my top 10 tracks to start mixing with for free.
How To Organize Your Music
Before you start to download lots of music to your computer, you should think about which DJ software you want to invest in. I personally use Serato DJ Pro. If you would like to learn how to organize your music in Serato you can check out my post on my top 5 tips on how to stay organized in Serato.
If you need to get a new computer and are worried about transferring your library to Serato, I have got you covered there. I made a video all about that call how to transfer your crates library.
Online DJ Course
I will be completely honest with you, I never took a course to learn how to DJ. Since I started DJing in 2000 and vinyl records was still a thing, I learned at home. That said, I have taken SO many other course in my life. And I especially LOVE online courses. So you can imagine how proud I am of my How To DJ Course (From Beginner To Nightclub Ready).
Check out and see what some of my students have been saying about the course!
