There’s something absolutely magical about stepping into a wedding where the entire vibe feels like it’s been transported from another time. That’s exactly what happened when Mary and Will tied the knot at The Weylin in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
This wasn’t just any wedding—it was a stunning gothic wedding theme and vintage glamour that will be etched in my memory for years to come.
The Venue: A Gothic Wonderland Add Your Heading Text Here
If you’ve ever been to The Weylin, you know it’s already dripping with history and drama. The high cathedral ceilings and ornate detailing immediately make you feel like you’ve stepped into another century.
And when you add a gothic wedding theme to the mix? Well, let’s just say this wedding felt like an elegant and moody fairytale.
Sacrificial Ceremony Vibes
The ceremony took place in the upstairs room with its breathtaking cathedral ceilings. But this wasn’t your typical ceremony setup with rows of chairs facing an altar.
Oh no. Mary and Will opted for a circular seating arrangement, which instantly made you question, “Am I about to witness a wedding, or a ritualistic sacrifice?”—in the best way possible, of course!
Reception Aesthetic: Black, Gold, and Candlelight
After the ceremony, we all descended into the downstairs reception area for the cocktail hour, which had a completely different vibe—yet just as mesmerizing. Imagine stepping into a 1920s speakeasy.
The room was dimly lit, with low-hanging chandeliers, deep leather seating, and an overall vintage aesthetic that was simply to die for.
Cocktail Hour
For the cocktail hour, Mary and Will wanted to bring in a little of that Roaring ’20s jazz flair. So naturally, I whipped up a playlist featuring some of the best jazz tracks from the era. If you’ve never heard “Sandman” by Benny Goodman, do yourself a favor and look it up right now.
It was the perfect backdrop for guests mingling with their old fashioneds and gin fizzes in hand. The music added just the right amount of nostalgia and class to the vibe, transporting everyone back to a time when jazz ruled the airwaves.
Tarot Readings: A Fun and Gothic Twist
Now, here’s where things got really fun—and oh-so-gothic. To enhance the dark, mystical theme of the evening, Mary and Will brought in a tarot reader for their guests. I mean, how cool is that?
Picture this: Guests sitting down for a tarot reading under soft candlelight, sipping cocktails, and getting their fortunes read. It was such a unique touch and added an element of mystery and excitement to the night.
The Reception: Dance the Night Away
There was a HUGE contract with music once the dance party started. With 80’s music opening up the dance floor this musical theater crowd got right into it.

Why This Wedding Stands Out
As a DJ, I’ve been to countless weddings over the years. But I have to say, there was something about Mary and Will’s day that just stood out. Maybe it was the gothic theme, which they executed to perfection without going overboard. Or maybe it was the way the venue, the decor, the music, and the energy all blended seamlessly to create an unforgettable experience.
Final Thoughts
If you’re considering a gothic-themed wedding, I say go for it. There’s something so romantic and timeless about the dark, moody aesthetic. It’s elegant without being fussy, bold without being over the top. And with a venue like The Weylin, you’ll have a backdrop that does most of the work for you.
