Honeymoon Ideas during Covid-19
With the economy starting to open up in the U.S. and the wedding boom upon us, it’s only natural to be thinking about honeymoon location ideas. I have been very lucky to travel to many places in my life. Some of these places include Hawaii, Barcelona, Ibiza, Hong Kong, Caribbean, Colombia, Ecuador and the list continues. That said there are still so many other places I’ve yet to see! Regardless, I made a list of my top 3 honeymoon locations that won’t break the bank.
1. Mexico - Tulum
Well, maybe I’m biased since I just came back from Tulum this week. Prior to this trip I have been to Northern Baja and Isla Mujeres (which I LOVED) in Mexico. Here’s the thing, you can go to Tulum and still visit Isla Mujeres on a boat excursion. You don’t just have to stay in Tulum. Tulum is pretty awesome though since there are cenotes (caves with water), amazing nightlife and the beaches are gorgeous.
Another perk to going to Mexico during Covid is that you don’t have to get tested to get into the country. Once you get to Mexico they are very Covid compliant. Masks are mandatory in all indoor areas and they have hand sanitizers everywhere you go. I honestly felt very safe there for the most part and I did survive the tale Covid free. It is mandatory to get tested for Covid 72 hours before your flight back to the U.S. though.

- Boat excursion to Isa Mujeres

- Kin Toh in AZULIK
2. The Amalfi Coast, Italy
If you are looking for a fairytale then look no further. I literally had to pinch myself on a daily basis to make sure it was real! I’m also super biased to Italy since I love all things Italian. I love the culture, the food, the style, you name it! That said, Amalfi is just breathtaking. PLUS, you can take a ferry ride to Capri and level up your whole experience VIP status!
I’ve been told by locals that they never travel for weddings because they already have the most beautiful location for their wedding. I have to agree. With everything The Amalfi coast has to offer including Positano (where The Talented Mr. Ripley was filmed) you could have a destination wedding and honeymoon all in one!
3. Puerto Rico
When it comes to the Carribean, Puerto Rico has everything you could want! You can travel around this island and the neighboring islands and have the time of your life. Isla Verde Beach is considered one of the top urban beaches in the world. I personally had an ocean front condo there and I absolutely LOVED it! You’re nearby to all that San Juan has to offer.
If you drive not even an hour east to Luqiullo you can experience another amazing beach. You could also take the ferry to Culebra or Vieques from there. I personally like to take the small charter planes to Culebra. The views are stellar! Clubera is probably the most chill island I’ve ever been to. Seriously, even my mom who is type A and super anxious was completely decompressed after only a couple of hours after arriving.
New Year’s eve in Puerto Rico is always a blast too! Everyone takes the holidays there very seriously. With live salsa bands and fireworks you can expect nothing short of “Espectacular!”
The west side of the island is also a treasure. Rincon and Aguadilla are sensational and well known for good surf waves. I hosted a yoga retreat there that left my guests feeling zenned out and well entertained. I hosted it at an amazing villa called Casa Herdz which is also known for hosting weddings!
